This page is for lawyers and law firms in Portugal who work on immigration. It explains how the directory works, how to check whether you are listed, how to claim or correct a listing, and what a featured listing is. It describes only how this site works. It does not promise visitors, leads or rankings.

At a glance

  • Immigration Lawyers Portugal is a free directory. Visitors search by city, visa type and language, then contact the firm directly.
  • Listings are compiled from public sources, mainly each firm’s own website. Each listing shows its source and the date it was last checked.
  • Claiming a listing is free. You claim it, or ask for a correction, through a short form, and we check every request by hand.
  • A featured listing is optional and paid. It is always labelled “Sponsored” and is not a recommendation.

1. What the directory is, and what it is not

The site lists immigration lawyers and law firms in Portugal so that people can compare them by city, practice area and language and then get in touch with the firm themselves. It is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. It does not rank, rate or endorse lawyers, and being listed is not a recommendation.

2. How to check whether you are listed

Use Find a lawyer and search for your name or your firm’s name, or browse your city page. Each listing shows the firm’s contact details, practice areas, languages, the website where the information came from, and the date it was last checked. Listings are built from public sources, so they can be incomplete or out of date. If something is wrong, you can ask for it to be corrected.

3. How to claim your listing

The site has no user accounts, so you cannot log in and edit a listing yourself. Instead, a claim is a request you send to us through a short form. Claiming a listing is free. You can also send the details you would like shown on the listing in the same form:

  1. Open your listing and press Claim this listing, or go to the Claim your listing page.
  2. Give your name, your email address, your role at the firm and a web page where your details are published, usually your own website.
  3. If you like, add the details you want shown: contact details, address, practice areas, languages, a short description and links. Then tick the consent box and send. We check each claim by hand before anything changes.

To protect firms from impersonation, we ask you to write from an email address on the firm’s own website domain, and we look for your name on the firm’s website. A free webmail address, such as Gmail, will not be enough on its own. Nothing you send is published automatically: we check every detail against the web page you give us before it goes on the site. We do not accept file uploads, so give a web address for your logo instead. A message sent through Facebook cannot prove who you are, so please use the form or email us from your firm’s address. Once a claim is verified, the listing is marked as claimed. That only means we checked that you are connected to the firm. It does not mean the site recommends the firm.

4. How to correct or remove a listing

Use the contact form with the topic “Correction or removal of a listing”. Say which listing it is, what is wrong, and where the right information is published, usually your own website. We check the detail against that source, correct it and update the date it was last checked. If you ask for a listing to be removed, we take it out of public view while we deal with your request.

You can help us keep listings accurate by making sure your own website clearly shows your practice areas, the languages you work in, your address and your contact details. That is where we look first.

A featured listing is optional. It appears above standard listings in search results and on the city and practice area pages that match your listing, and it carries a clear “Sponsored” label so visitors can see it is a paid placement. It links to your normal listing page. It does not change what your listing says, and it is not a recommendation.

  • Price: $30 per year, paid once a year.
  • How you pay: by PayPal invoice, sent by email after your request has been checked. Please pay the invoice within 3 days of receiving it. Payments are not refundable.
  • When it starts: your listing is shown as featured once the payment has arrived.
  • What we do not promise: a number of visitors, enquiries, clients or any particular position in search engines.

To ask about it, use the contact form with the topic “Advertising or a featured listing”. We never ask for card details by email or on the site. Payment details are sent by email only, after a claim or request has been checked. More details are on our Advertise page.

6. Advertising rules are your responsibility

Rules on advertising by lawyers differ from place to place. Each lawyer or firm is responsible for making sure that its listing and any featured placement follow the rules that apply to it. If you are unsure, check with the Portuguese Bar Association (Ordem dos Advogados) or a legal adviser.

Quick checklist

  • Find your listing and check the details and the source date.
  • Make sure your website shows your practice areas, languages and contact details.
  • Claim the listing from an email address on your firm’s own domain, and send the details you want shown with a link to where they are published.
  • Ask for corrections through the form, with a link to where the correct detail is published.
  • If you want a featured listing, read the terms above and the Advertise page first.
