A directory of immigration lawyers in Portugal. Not a law firm, and not legal advice.

Privacy Policy

This page explains what personal information Immigration Lawyers Portugal (“we”, “us”) collects, why, and what your rights are. It is written in plain English. It is a first draft and should be checked by a qualified lawyer before the site goes live.

Who we are

Immigration Lawyers Portugal is a directory of immigration lawyers and law firms in Portugal. We are not a law firm and we do not give legal advice. You can reach us through the Contact page.

What we collect

Just by visiting. You can browse the whole directory without giving us any personal information. We do not ask you to create an account. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking tools on this site. The fonts and images are served from this site, not from other companies.

When you use the contact form. If you write to us (to ask for a correction, to claim a listing, about advertising, or for another reason), the form asks for:

  • your name;
  • your email address;
  • your message;
  • your role at the firm, only if you are claiming a listing;
  • the topic, and which listing you mean, if any.

We use this only to read and answer your message, and to check and carry out the request. The form sends your message to us by email. It is not saved in a database on this site. To limit spam, the site also keeps a short-lived counter of how many times the form was used, for up to one hour.

When you use the Claim your listing form. If you claim a listing, the form asks for your name, your email address, your role at the firm, your listing and a web page where the details are published. You can also choose to send details for the listing: the firm’s website, phone number, public email address, address, cities served, practice areas, languages, a short description, registration number, social media pages, a logo link and any notes. You must tick a box to say that the details are true and may be published.

We use this to check your claim and, once we have checked each detail against its source, to publish the details you ask us to publish on your listing. Details published on a listing are public. The form sends everything to us by email. It is not saved in a database on this site, and the same short-lived spam counter applies. You can ask us to correct or remove published details at any time through the Contact page.

The lawyers and firms listed here are described using information that is publicly available, for example from their own websites. If you are listed and want something changed or removed, use the Contact page.

Why we may use it (legal basis)

We use your message because you asked us to deal with something, and to run a safe and accurate directory (our legitimate interest). We do not sell your information and we do not use it for marketing.

Who we share it with

We do not share your messages with other people, except where this is needed to deal with your request (for example, passing a correction request on to the firm concerned) or where the law requires it. Our email and website hosting providers handle the data on our behalf as part of providing their service.

How long we keep it

We keep a message only for as long as we need it to deal with your request and to keep a record of corrections, removals and claims. After that we delete it.

Your rights

Under the data protection rules that apply in Portugal and the European Union (the GDPR), you can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to limit how we use it, or to stop using it. You can also complain to the Portuguese data protection authority, the CNPD (Comissao Nacional de Protecao de Dados). To use any of these rights, contact us through the Contact page.

Links to other websites

Listings link to the websites and social pages of lawyers and firms. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their privacy practices. Links to other sites are marked so that search engines do not treat them as endorsements.

Changes to this page

We may update this page. The current version is always the one on this address.
